Bizarre question, but

My housemate is doing her dissitation for uni and she wants to get hold of an essay which will help er write it, only obtainable from indiana university press. she cant find it online or buy it online, only from indiana press shop which is apparently only in indiana.
It's a strange request but if any of you know of anyone who could help me get hold of something from indiana press could you please get a hold of me.
I'll draw you a picture or something if you can get me in touch with this essay.
my housemate's been driving herself half insane trying to wrte her dissitation so you know, it would be ace to give her a hand in any way i can.

if you can help in anyway, please do :D
much love.

metasynth and noise wizzardry

Sun Jan 6, 2008, 9:05 AM
  • Listening to: conjure one
  • Reading: the last issue of the Invisibles
  • Watching: porn
  • Eating: crumpets
  • Drinking: gin
For christmas satanclaws got me a macbook and a copy of metasynth
this software makes me want to wet my pants with glee as it opens up endless possibilities for my work converting image to sound
I imagine i will probably start uploading bits and bobs of what i'm up to on here.
visually it probably wont be that interesting because i'm utter gash at painting and everyone has high standards on ere, but i will need places to store what i been doing
so expect some shitty paintings with fabulous explanations of how ive made them into sounds
and mayhaps some links to my paint composition noise things...

howdy fuckers

It is my end of year exhibition tomorrow.
My final piece is mind-meltingly cool. To the point I don’t think people will understand it and might burn me as a witch or something.

It is basically a sound piece. I’ve rendered images of my hair into three sounds to represent how it looks at different times of the dai. I.e. As I’ve just woke up, after I’ve styled it and after work when it’s all *droop*.
I took pictures of myself at these times of the day for three days then drew line drawings of the outside line of my hair then made them into sounds using a program called “Coagula”

If you’re familiar with Aphex Twin you will know he put a picture of himself on the end of his Windowlicker cd. Well, you might not know that, you might think that was an urban myth but its not.

anyway Coagula isn’t the program he used because the one he used is mac only, but it’s a simpler version that’s a whore to use. But I done it anyway.

The sounds are like a mix of spaceships and white noise and when turned up load are horrific to hear. Its wonderful :D
The sounds emanate from the belly of life-sized silhouettes of myself drawn out in green wire and are housed in a black, grimly-lit room. They had to give me my own room because of the nature of the noises.

Anyway, it’s the best piece of work on the foundation course by far and I 100% win. I might not get a high mark because I’ve no done much artist research because I didn’t use any artists because I have a BRAIN. I’m not arsed though, I’m totally proud of myself and therefore WIN.

I'm putting this on here because i dont think its worth uploading as its quite a crap photo.
this is my painting of my last photo upoladed it's called "bad day"
it was sposed to be "bad hair day" but it didnt work out and it turned out while i was doing it i had a fucking awful week so bad day seemed to work better.
i know not many people will see this up here cause not many people come to my main page.
but just incase youre interested to see how my photo worked up into paint.

it's more equally dark in real life, the head sticks out less.
Mixed media.
acrylic, letraset, blackboard paint, crackle glaze, enamel and a bit of pastel for the white lines.

awrite.
I am back at art college now, having had a year out in the real world. oh my it is a frightening place of stuipd people and the need to make money.
quite horrible.
i have grown up alot i think in the past year, and have returned to college with a whore new attitude.
in saying that i should technichally have been there 2 hours ago and im still sat in my room...
but we will ignore that minor divergence.
I'm currently pretending to be a painter. i have moved onto large scale canvases and am spending most of my money on hideously bright colours of paint.
im not entirely sure you can expect to see any of the work i am doing currently as it is big and wont fit on a scanner and is real media so doesnt live inside the computer.
but know this
i am enjoying myself
thusly from this i have come to the conclusion that
i win.

im thinking of going for a degree in interactive arts next year. which means that i can build things for squashing things and for making things splode and THEN get a degree for it.
:D
